Look out, Blair: Ex-Melrose Place vamp Katie Cassidy is relocating to Manhattan.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Cassidy — who was arguably the best thing about last season’s ill-fated Melrose reboot — is staying in the CW fold with a multi-episode arc on Gossip Girl.
She’ll play a student at Columbia and a love interest for fellow undergrad Nate (Chace Crawford).
This next bit probably goes without saying, but a Gossip source tells me that Cassidy’s character “will make trouble” for several Upper East Siders, adding, “She is not what she appears.”
Cassidy will first air in the season 4 premiere.
Coincidentally, Cassidy is currently in Paris shooting the teen adventure comedy Monte Carlo alongside fellow Gossip girl Leighton Meester (Blair).
Thoughts? Does Cassidy’s casting warrant an enthusiastic “Yes!” or an apathetic “Meh?” (Hint: The correct answer is “Yes!”)
I’ve finally started sorting through Harper’s Island and have added the first three episodes to the gallery.
Katie just posted a new twitter picture on her twitter with her two Monte Carlo co-stars Leighton Meester and Selena Gomez and I also added some older twitter pictures to the gallery!
I’m sure we all saw it coming, but hoped somehow it wasn’t true. Melrose Place has not been picked up by the CW. All things considered, we’re sure that Katie will continue on and we wish her the best of luck in whatever steps she takes next.
Hi everyone! I have added 4 photoshoots to the gallery!
It looks like Megan Fox might not have been too hard to replace for the upcoming “Transformers 3” film, as another actress has reportedly already been cast for the part.
According to insiders, Katie Cassidy, daughter of 70s heartthrob David Cassidy, will be assuming the role.
A source told press that Michael Bay was thrilled to be rid of Miss Fox and already had Katie in mind as a replacement.
“Michael worked with Katie on A Nightmare On Elm Street and he sees her as the perfect choice. Megan was unknown when she was cast in the first Transformers and Katie is in that same mold. She even looks a little like Megan — only blonde.”
I have added some pictures from Katie twiter account to the gallery! Check them out!
We have a new layout to bring in the new additions to the site and us working on it to get it back up and running. I’d also like to welcome Mette aboard! You can see she’s already been doing a wonderful job catching up on things here. Pardon the dust! We’re still working on the layout!
Freddy Krueger’s return to theaters paid off handsomely on Friday.
The reboot of “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” which stars Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy and Katie Cassidy, Kellan Lutz and Kyle Gallner as teenagers on his hit list, took in an estimated $15.8 million on its opening night Friday (April 30), which puts it on pace for an opening weekend in the $35 million range. The Friday total includes $1.6 million from midnight showings on Thursday.
Nothing else in theaters really came close to matching “Nightmare’s” totals. “How to Train Your Dragon” was second on Friday with an estimated $2.6 million, followed closely by “Date Night” with $2.5 million.
Those other villains our Girl Crush faced in her previous flicks “When a Stranger Calls” and “Black Christmas” have nothing on the twisted killer she’s about to encounter. In fact, there aren’t many horror villains to compare to the likes of this well-known criminal mastermind. Katie Cassidy will battle the dream-encompassing Freddy Krueger in “Nightmare on Elm Street” (out this Friday), which is why we don’t just think we love her, we know we do!
If Katie’s last name sounds a little familiar, there’s a reason. Her father is David Cassidy, of Partridge Family fame! And with Hollywood running through her veins, it’s no wonder you can see Katie showing off her beauty and talent everywhere. She may not play the villain in “Nightmare on Elm Street,” but you can catch her showing off her vindictive snobby side in “Melrose Place” as Ella Simms, with a no-none-sense attitude and always telling you exactly what she thinks.
Not only does she have a career waiting to explode (she was just cast in “Monte Carlo” opposite Selena Gomez and Leighton Meester!), but she also dated pop heartthrob Jesse McCartney from 2004 till 2007. And Katie must’ve left her mark on Jesse because he wrote not just one, but two songs about their relationship: “Tell Her” and “Bleeding Love.” (Can we get a unanimous awwwww?) With an absolutely flawless sophisticated sex-appeal, we know exactly what Jesse saw in this blonde beauty.
And what other privilege does Katie hold (besides being our Girl Crush, that is)? We won’t divulge too much, but in “Nightmare on Elm Street,” she gets a special death scene which is infamous among Freddy Krueger fans. Check out the film April 30th to see exactly what we’re talking about!
